How is your summer going? If you have kids, are they out of school yet? My kids have been out for a few weeks now, but I still see some kids going to school that are on year round school. As a mom, I’m starting to get to that point that we’re passed the first couple of weeks of summer, this kids are getting bored, and my patience are running thin. I’m over the fighting (why do they have to do it constantly?) but I’m trying to keep things fun to an extent. I don’t feel like I need to create entertainment for my kids on a daily basis. They can be creative and come up with their own boredom busters themselves. I think it’s good for them. They’ve been spending a lot of time on their bikes at the nearby park as well as playing with friends. However, they can’t leave to do those things until they have their daily summer list finished up. It’s been a lifesaver! They have to get showered, dressed, eat breakfast, do their chores, and read before they can go out to play. They are pretty good about doing it without me hounding them too, so I consider it a win win situation. While they are out playing at the park, and it’s just me and the baby at home a lot of times in the afternoon, I’m able to get some projects done, sometimes anyway. 🙂 Last week, I put this simple Land of the Free 4th of July Pillow together. I don’t know if it’s because pillows are so easy to make, or because I just love using iron-on vinyl, but I’m starting to get quite the collection of holiday pillows. And why not, every holiday deserves to have a pillow or two, right? 🙂

Land of the Free 4th of July Pillow Supplies:
Using my Cricut Explore Air 2, I cut out my design from silver glitter iron-on vinyl. TIP: Always make sure you mirror your image when cutting letters out of iron on. 🙂 I ironed my red pillow cover, and then placed the design on the pillow where I wanted it.
Reference
I covered the design with a towel.
Then I used my iron (steam turned off) to iron over the towel to get the design to adhere.
It doesn’t take too long to get the design to adhere.
Once the design is on, fill your pillow cover with a pillow insert. I like to store these pillow covers without the pillow in them, and then I just reuse the pillows for all my different pillow covers.
The glitter vinyl on this pillow makes for the fun added sparkle!

It gives it a little more dimension than just normal iron on would give.
If you have your porch all decorated for the 4th of July and the wind doesn’t blow where you live, then this pillow would be a fun addition to your porch!
You could even make two of them…one like this and one that says “because of the brave.” Wouldn’t they make a great pair?
I’ll be pulling out all of my other 4th of July decor soon, and I’m so excited to have this pillow to add to the decor. And don’t these red, white, & blue felt balls looks so cute with it? I love them!
